Last Saturday I went to the Annual Parking Lot Sale at Esbenshade's Garden Center in Lititz (PA) with my sister of Plant Swap fame, my other sister, and a friend of hers. It spritzed rain throughout the morning, but the trip was great fun and very fruitful. I got a lawn seed spreader, a small iron plant stand and 12 plants for a total of about $50. I planted everything the next day and all the newbies are doing very well so far. The new herbs were featured in my Garden Whimsy Project post. Here are the other new additions:
Rosularia Sedoides var. Alba (Sempervivella)
Plant tag description/specs include: Little green, pink-flushed rosettes are adorned with short sprays of substantial white flowers in early summer; plant in well-drained, gritty soil; zones 5-9; full sun. I planted it in a small terra cotta pot and put it on the stand I got at the sale. I just love this new garden element!

Catmint 'Walker's Low'
I am thrilled to add this to my garden because it was named 2007 Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association. Plant tag description/specs include: Produces fragrant, lavender-violet flowers over mounds of aromatic, cool silver foliage; excellent when mass planted; also good for edging and borders; attracts butterflies; good companion plants are coreopsis, iris, oenothera, verbena; blooms in late spring to midsummer; 10" tall; full sun; zone 3-8; prefers well-drained soil; cut plant back halfway after flowering to stimulate new growth. I could swear it's already grown an inch or two this week!

Siberian Iris 'White Swirl'
This bulb (to the right of the yarrow plant) doesn't look like much now, but just wait 'til next year! Plant tag description/specs include: One of the finest white-flowering Siberian Iris with wide, ruffled white petals each with just a hint of yellow at the throat; award winner; 30" tall; full sun to partial shade; May-June flowering time; hardy zone 3-9.

Speedwell (Veronica 'Sunny Border Blue')
Plant tag description/specs include: Vibrant, everblooming flower spikes, a beautiful addition to the perennial, hummingbird or cutting garden; particularly stunning with pale yellow flowers, or with coreopsis, cranesbill, daylily or ornamental grass; 1993 Perennial Plant of the Year; blooms early summer to frost; sun or partial sun; 18-20" tall; hardiness zones 4-10. Mine needs staking and a little TLC because it was the last one and therefore the "runt" of the litter. It's worth it, though -- the blooms are beautiful and unique:

Coreopsis 'Creme Brulee' Hybrid Tickseed
Shown at the left here, helping to improve this problem area. Plant tag description/specs include: Cheerful, bright yellow flowers are borne in profusion; extremely long-flowering; blooms non-stop from late spring to fall on neat, uniform mounds of narrow foliage; compared to other threadleaf plants, plants are more vigorous, flowers are larger and appear along the arching stems for a fuller appearance; full sun; zones 4-9; place in front or middle of beds or borders, also lovely in containers; 20" tall by 35" wide; prefers average, well-drained soils; drought-tolerant once established; shear plants in mid- to late-summer to allow a new flush of flowers into fall; divide in spring or fall when needed.
I will be looking forward to seeing the Siberian Iris - I love them! Your Veronica is such a beautiful shade of blue. And then there's the hens and chicks in the first photo. Really lovely!

What a wonderful haul! That veronica looks great against the grey stone... and I am drooling over the sempervivella. It looks great in that terracotta pot on the new plant stand.

I swear that I have gardened for so long I have had at one time or another most plants known by mankind:). You have made some good choices! With that said...I'm going to the nurseries today to see what's new:).
