This little border, which I affectionately call The Rose Garden and is just outside my back door, has been a new project this season. As you can see in the "before" photo below, it used to just be three rose bushes. (And I use the term "bushes" loosely.) Actually, that is also kind of an "after" because I didn't photograph the real before, when the area included a mess of leaves & debris and wasn't edged.
Here's a closer view of its current status:
The color scheme is pink, white and green. I'm working to get the white roses healthier, and I've added a pink 'Freckles' perennial clematis that is crawling rapidly up the trellis, 'Sonata mix' pink and white cosmos on either side in the back, white dwarf lobelia along the front, and a pink & green foliage plant called hypoestes 'Pink Splash Select.' The hypoestes should end up taller than the lobelia in front of it.
