Yesterday morning I put in the 15 plants I got from my sister on Thursday. If you rate your gardening days on a scale of 1 to 10, this was a 12. It was so much fun to find the right place for everything, and I'm pleased with how it all turned out. So here's the beginning of my "Show & Tell" (including some information that my sister and niece gave me about the plants), starting with the things I put in my front borders :
Purple Spiderwort - Blooms late May through early July.
Mum - It's a salmon color, blooms in the fall, functions almost like a ground cover.
This is the left front border showing the new plantings in context. The spiderwort is to the left of the azaleas and in front of the tall lily stalk. The mum is in front of the azaleas. This garden also includes hostas, Pink Splash geraniums, forget-me-nots and phlox.
Mystery Shrub - This is a lovely shrub that we don't know the name of! It has purple blooms in late summer.
Sedum - Blooms in the fall.
Campanula (Bluebells) - Blooms in June and July. Divides and transplants easily.
And here's the right front border showing the new plantings in context. The shrub is behind the liriope and pink gaura; the sedum is in front of the liriope to the left of the hens & chicks; the campanula is behind the puff-ball (can't remember the name of that fun-to-touch plant). This garden also includes azaleas, vinca, a bit of lobelia (behind the hens & chicks), plus salvia and forget-me-nots that you can't see from this angle.
