Yesterday was a double-gasp day in the garden. I discovered that 1) the cosmo seeds had sprouted earlier than expected and 2) the first daylily blossom had opened:
It's a Lilium Asiatic 'Corrida' hybrid lily that I added to the left front border last year. Plant specs/requirements include height of 28", full sun to light shade, moist well-drained soil, hardy zone 2-9, and a bloom time of early summer. Recommended companion plants include coreopsis, tulips, sedum, echinacea, grasses, peony and hemerocallis.
I love the gradation of color on the petals and the contrast of the dark stamens.
